The 1958 boys track team won five out of six meets. In four invitationals (relays) they won twice, place second and a third. They ended the season winning the Capital Conference district meet and then tied Central for the A-2 state championship. Senior Rick Lamb placed first in the 100 yard dash, low hurdles and tied for first in the broad jump (a.k.a. long jump). Senior Ray Hoefling placed 5th in the 220 yards and junior Ken Lambert placed third in the mile and fifth in the 880 yards. Ernie Coleman, Tom DeArmond, Laudie Doubrava and Russ Colgan also qualified for the state meet.

Bob Logsdon coached the 1958 boys track team to the schools first state championship. He was also varsity boys basketball coach.

In 1958 Rick Lamb was the Boyd Brown award winner as the top male athlete of North Marion's senior class. He was team MVP as a halfback on the football team as well as a shriners all-star. He was a starter on the basketball team. He won three events at the state track & field championships (see above) leading the team to the title as well as winning the individual high point trophy. In his junior year Rick placed in three events at the state meet (3rd in 100yds, 4th in broad jump, 4th in hurdles).

Linda Lamprecht qualified for state in track all four years (1974-77). Her specialty was the hurdles where she took 4th as a freshman, 2nd as a sophomore and 1st as a junior and senior. She also qualified in the long jump, 220 yds and mile relay during her track career. She was a multi-year MVP on the track team (not sure if it was all 4 years though). She was a 3 year starter on the basketball team. Additionally Linda was a member of the varsity rally squad and dance team.

The 1983 girls basketball team recorded a perfect 24-0 record winning the Capital Conference and AA state championship. The team's average margin of victory was an impressive 20 points. The team was led by senior team captains Andy Chaffey and Sherri Lambert as well as junior Tami Halter who led the team in scoring. Halter was named first team all-state and to the all-tournament first team. Lambert was all-tournament third team.

John Bridgens was varsity girls track coach from 1975-81. He led the team to three Yawama League district titles as well as two 2nd place finishes. He was varsity girls basketball coach from 1976-85. His teams finished 2nd in league in both 1976 and 1977 when only one team from each league qualified for state. His teams advanced to state in 1982-84, winning it all in 1983 and placing 3rd in 1984. He was named AA girls coach of the year for the 1983 championship season.

Pat Chaffey was a first-team all-Capital Conference running back in football for three years (1982-84). As a sophomore during the 1982 season he helped the team get the first football state playoff win in school history, beating Vale 14-8. He was also a shriners all-star after his senior year.
He was a three year varsity basketball player earning first team all-conference in 1984 and 1985.
As a junior on the track team he placed 6th at state in the 400 meters.
As a senior he was 2nd team all-conference in baseball.
Pat played fullback at Oregon State from 1986-89 where his 124 receptions and 18 career touchdowns still rank in the top ten all-time.
He ran for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns in the 1988 civil war game to help OSU break a 13 year winless streak against UO.
In 1990 Pat was drafted in the 5th round by the NFL Chicago Bears. He played on the 1991 Atlanta Falcons playoff team and for the NY Jets in 1992-93.
